Dirk Stokvis


As a member of the board of management (CFO) Dirk Stokvis assumes responsibility for the finance and operations streams within Doosan Lentjes. Dirk is a graduate in Business Administration and started in the industry 25 years ago. He has forged a career at Doosan Lentjes since 2001 where he has held several management roles, such as, Director of Commercial Operations and Director Operations. Before having been appointed as CFO in July 2018 Dirk had been a member of the extended management board of Doosan Lentjes for 5 years. Dirk is also a board member of the foreign subsidiaries Doosan Lentjes Czech s.r.o and Doosan Lentjes UK ltd.

Doosan Lentjes is a reliable and innovative partner in the power generation and environmental sector, which I can easily say is a result of our biggest asset and defining factor: Our employees. We have a team of excellent, experienced people who engineer and realise complex industrial plant projects always with a focus on the client’s requirements.

Since the company joined the Doosan family, we have been significantly investing in developing people and securing young talent. We also invest considerably in R&D — understanding the importance of research into developing superior, optimised products — but see our people as the primary driver for technological advances.

I also see Doosan as being quick and flexible to challenges of change. We have experienced a lot of change in the recent years, and this has helped us to constantly scrutinise ourselves and become a more adaptable team.

Opportunities in growth markets

The thing that sets Doosan Lentjes apart is its strong technologies across a range of products. Now supported by Doosan Heavy Industries, I see great opportunity for our waste-to-energy (WtE) and circulating fluidised bed (CFB) technologies — either standalone or combined with our air quality control systems (AQCS) — to successfully enter growth markets. Of course, we face key challenges in reaching full potential, which will rely on our continuing to develop key sales and engineering areas, strategic partnerships inside and outside the Doosan family, and value-engineered concepts and reference product models.

Rising to new industry challenges

The industrial plant business has never been an easy industry sector; not just in relation to technological issues, but also contractual, financial and sourcing challenges. Currently, however, we face an increasingly demanding environment in which future business and competitors are uncertain. Our main challenge, in these new markets is to understand the drivers of our clients and our partners in the supply chain, and produce matching, competitive bids.

What makes us special?

When I look around Lentjes, I see common features in our people: They are passionate about their work, aspire to achieve teamwork targets, and are willing to share their knowledge. These traits are key to growth in the market and connecting with new colleagues in the Doosan group.

Apart from continuing the fulfilling work with my team and the challenging responsibilities I have been given, my main motivation is to shape the future of Lentjes with our employees, the directors, and the shareholders in a way that makes us a competitive and reliable partner for our potential clients and partners in the supply chain.
