Product Director WtE

Gerhard Lohe is a process engineer whose professional career spans more than 30 years in plant construction, with a particular focus on waste-to-energy (WtE). After graduating from the University of Aachen with a degree in engineering and a marketing-oriented MBA, Gerhard joined Deutsche Babcock’s WtE sales department in 1986. After three years, Gerhard moved to the company’s license partner in Houston/TX to work on transferring technology and developing new projects in the US.

Gerhard joined Doosan Lentjes in 2000, where his experience in WtE sales and proposals supported a strong growth and success for the company’s WtE projects. Today, Gerhard is Product Director WtE.

A best-suited concept to maximise the value from the waste

With a strong heritage in advanced WtE technologies Doosan Lentjes is in a position to deliver state-of-the-art plant solutions for the WtE industry. Whether individual process sections, chute-to-stack or full turnkey programmes – we provide the right concept for all waste incineration requirements. In doing so, our latest technologies across combustion and steam generation ensure greatest energy and material recoveries while harnessing an optimum performance potential of the incinerated waste.

Minimising the environmental impact

By applying advanced flue gas cleaning (FGC) technologies, our plants produce emissions that are significantly below the European requirements as per the Best Available Techniques Reference (BREF) documents of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). Furthermore, the WtE process can reduce the waste volume by more than 90% allowing for the reduction of the reliance on landfill sites, thus, eliminating harmful methane emissions.

Flexibly and reliably meeting global waste disposal challenges

Given the background of the world facing a continuous increase in population leading to growing amounts of globally generated waste, advanced concepts for a reliable disposal are required. Making a valuable contribution to secure this, our modern WtE solutions can feature efficient, multi-line incineration systems with large scale single units allowing for the handling of increasing volumes of waste. What’s more, with respect to securing long-term flexibility, these units are capable of processing waste with continuously changing qualities and compositions.

Bringing individual designs to emerging markets

As our target markets expand to Eastern Europe, Asia and also Latin America, we face new challenges relating to local economic requirements. To ensure we deliver suitable solutions, we aim at providing designs featuring a maximum of cost-efficiency while fulfilling all required local standards in respect of quality and emissions.
