Doosan Lentjes was once again a sponsor and speaker at this year's Berlin Conference on Waste Management and Energy (BKAWE). On the second day of the conference, Dr Sebastian Schmitt, an expert from Doosan Lentjes' research and development department, gave an exciting presentation on the topic of "CO2 capture by burning secondary fuels from waste with Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC)".

The fluidised bed technology CLC offers great potential for CO2 capture in waste incineration plants. It is characterised by low energy losses and CO2 capture costs and is economically more attractive compared to conventional processes.

In his presentation, Dr Schmitt highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of using CLC in waste incineration, which are being researched as part of the international LOUISE project (LOW-COST CO₂ CAPTURE BY CHEMICAL LOOPING COMBUSTION OF WASTE-DERIVED FUELS).

We are pleased to have contributed to the discussion on future-oriented technologies for CO2 capture, which was a focus of this year's BKAWE.

The Berlin Conference on Waste Management and Energy is known as the "class reunion of waste incinerators" and traditionally takes place once a year in Berlin - this time from 29-30 January. Around 500 experts from the industry meet there every year to discuss the latest developments and trends in thermal waste utilisation.
